6 hot dogs 6 hot dog buns, split partway 6 slices american or cheddar cheese 1 cup chili con carne 1 small onion, chopped
1. Place the hot dogs on a hot grill and cook, turning, until plump and slightly charred.
2. Place the hot dog buns, cut-side down, over a smoldering section of the grill. Toast for 3 to 4 minutes, until slightly brown.
3. On sturdy plates, place the cooked hot dogs in the buns, and top each with a slice of cheese. Smother each hot dog with heaping spoonfuls of the chili, sprinkle with the chopped onions, and serve immediately.
