1 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour 1 cup sugar 3 Tbs cocoa 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp vinegar 5 Tbs vegetable oil 1 cup cold water
1. Mix flour, sugar, cocoa, soda and salt.
2. Make three wells in the flour mixture.
3. In one put vanilla; in another the vinegar, and in the third the oil.
4. Pour 1 cup cold water over all and stir. No need to beat.
5. Pour into 8 x 8-inch pan.
6. Bake at 350 degrees F until cake springs back to touch.
