3 pounds beef 4 celery stalks, chopped 6 quarts cold water 1 can tomatoes or 2 tablespoons tomato paste 2 tablespoons salt 2 carrots 3 onions 1 can peas 1/2 head cabbage 1 cup diced potatoes 2 tablespoons rice, soaked in cold water for 1 hour
1. Cook beef in salted water for 1 1/2 hours.
2. Add carrots, onions, cabbage, and celery. Simmer for 30 minutes.
3. Add tomatoes, peas, potatoes, and rice.
4. Simmer until rice is done. Add a dash of pepper and serve.
