3/4 cups granulated sugar 1 cup all-purpose flour 3 teaspoons cocoa 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup milk 1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar 4 teaspoons cocoa 1 1/4 cups hot water whipped topping
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
2. In medium bowl, combine 3/4 cup granulated sugar, flour, 3 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
3. Blend in milk, melted butter and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
4. Pour batter into an 8 or 9" square baking pan.
5. In small bowl, combine 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, and 4 tablespoons cocoa.
6. Sprinkle mixture evenly over the batter.
7. Pour the hot water over top; do not stir.
8. Bake 35 to 40 minutes in a 350 degree oven or until center is almost set. Let stand 15 minutes.
9. Spoon into dessert dishes, spooning sauce from bottom of pan over top.
10. Garnish with whipped topping.
