1 1/2 cups flour 1 cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoon pumpkin spice or 1/2 ts of cinnamon and nutmeg with 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves and ground ginger each 1/2 cup shortening 1 cup (1/2 lb can) canned pumkin 2 eggs 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 cup chopped nuts
1. Generously grease bottom of bread pad only.
2. Blend all except chips and nuts for two minutes.
3. Stir in chips and nuts, and pour batter into pan.
4. Bake at 350 degrees for 60-70 minutes. Cool 10 minutes and remove.
I find that sometimes this needs to be baked just a little longer or the middle of the bread with be slightly underbaked. This is a great Fall/Winter recipe, and it makes the house smell devine.
