1 cup light corn syrup 3 cups granulated sugar 1/2 cup water 1/4 tsp. salt 2 egg whites 1 tsp. vanilla 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) 1 cup coconut (optional)
1. Combine syrup, sugar, water and salt. Cook in heavy 3 quart pan. Cook to hard ball stage (260-degrees).
2. Beat egg whites in large mixing bowl until stiff. Very slowly, beat syrup into egg mixture. Add vanilla and continue beating until mixture holds it shape.
3. Add nuts and coconut and pour into pan lined with waxed paper or drop from spoon onto waxed paper.
