4 oz. dried or smoked dried beef, torn 2 Tbs butter 2 Tbs all-purpose flour 1 cup milk 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce Toast points
1. Cook dried beef in butter until edges frizzle.*
2. Push meat to one side; blend flour into butter.
3. Add milk all at once.
4. Cook, stirring constantly, until thick and bubbly,
gradually incorporating dried beef.
5. Add Worcestershire and dash pepper.
6. Spoon over buttered toast.
*If dried beef is extra salty, let stand a few minutes in boiling water and drain on paper towels before cooking in the butter.
