1 pound lean hamburger or ground venison 2 medium to large potatoes, sliced with or without peel 1/2 onion, sliced 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 cup grated cheddar cheese Salt and pepper to taste
1) Brown meat over medium heat and drain well.
2) Spread 1/2 of meat in bottom of 2-quart casserole dish.
3) Spoon half of mushroom soup over meat (If too thick to handle, dilute with a little water. It doesn't matter if it looks a little messy.)
4) Layer half of potatoes over soup. Place sliced onions on top of potatoes.
5) Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
6) Sprinkle with half of cheese.
7) Repeat all layers except onions.
8) Cover dish and bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes, or until potatoes stick tender with a fork.
9) Uncover and bake an additional 5 minutes to brown cheese, if desired.
Alternatives:
Use lowfat mushroom soup--tastes just as good.
For a change, omit the cheese and use golden mushroom soup instead of regular mushroom soup.
